Analysis and development of PCB market in Japan in the first half of 2007

the Ministry of economy, industry and trade (METI) of Japan released the production data of printed circuit board (PWB) industry in Japan in the first half of 2007. Using the actual data of these six months, we can review the performance of the industry and evaluate the forecast for the second half of 2007

on the whole, there is no major event in the printed circuit board industry. Therefore, it is not easy to summarize the development trend of the industry in just a few words; However, the new trends in some of these markets are more obvious. The performance of the whole industry in the first quarter of this year was the same as that in the second half of 2006. Depending on the product category, some printed circuit board products overcame this trend and achieved growth in the second quarter of this year

in the first half of this year, the total revenue of printed circuit board production. The research and utilization of aerogel gel insulation in the field of building energy conservation is still in its infancy, with 494.9 billion yen (about 4.3 billion US dollars), an increase of 8.6% over the same period last year; The total output decreased by 1.4% over the same period last year to 12.17 million square meters. This increases revenue and reduces production. In the first half of 2006, managers in Japan's printed circuit board industry gradually turned their attention to high priced products to improve profits; This business plan has been continued in the second half of 2006. In early 2007, this trend still existed. Manufacturers achieved double-digit growth in revenue, but output fell by more than 5%. In the past few months, Japanese manufacturers have changed their direction, focusing on increasing production and willing to maintain market share at the cost of profits

Japanese manufacturers have adopted different marketing strategies for each product category, especially in flexible circuits. Due to the high price of double-sided and multi-layer circuits, manufacturers have gradually shifted from operating single-sided circuits to operating double-sided and multi-layer circuits. Compared with the first half of 2006, the total output of flexible circuits in the first half of 2007 decreased by 2.7%, but the revenue increased by 3.0%. Compared with the same period last year, the output and income of single-sided flexible circuits decreased by 4.6% and 7.6% respectively in the first half of this year; The average selling price continued to decline. On the other hand, although the output of double-sided and multi-layer flexible circuits was weak, decreasing by 1.3%, its revenue increased by 10.1%. In the first half of this year, the average selling price of double-sided and multilayer circuits remained high

the rigid board circuit section provides mixed results. Six to eight (i.e. the continuous jaw, the inner jaw, the parallel section or the gauge distance of the sample) laminates and laminates achieved double-digit growth over the same period last year, with growth rates of 22.6% and 15.8% respectively. However, the income and output of digital boards on the fourth floor, the tenth floor and higher floors experienced negative growth compared with the same period last year. The income and growth rate of double-sided rigid plates remained flat. At present, single-sided rigid plate is regarded as an important product in the industry; However, the revenue of these products increased by only 4.6%; However, the output decreased by 8.8%

the performance of various module circuits is also different; The revenue and output of rigid module circuits increased by 40.2% and 32.3% respectively. Unfortunately, its revenue and output both fell sharply in the last month of the first half of this year. The revenue of other module circuits barely increased (decreased by 0.1%), but the output increased by another 11.2%. Most of the circuits are used as driver modules in flat panel displays. It is conceivable that the overall module circuit market is growing rapidly, but the price is declining

after analyzing the data of tensile strength of 5.8gpa and modulus of 270gpa in the first half of this year, I intend to provide a forecast of the possible market trend in the second half of 2007; However, as new trends in the industry emerged in the second half of this year, such forecasts are not easy to formulate. If the industry maintains the status quo in the second quarter, even if the output is flat, or even suffered a decline, its annual revenue will also achieve substantial growth. Unfortunately, the prospect of the Japanese consumer electronics market is unpredictable; At present, I am not optimistic about this
